ACToolkit Co-design Online Workshop 2
30th Nov at 4pm – 6pm
Are you a teacher or educational practitioner who wants to make a change in your school?
Change towards the SDGs
The Agents of Change Toolkit project is developing a Toolkit that helps teachers, schools, and other learning environments to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG4 of providing equitable and inclusive education. Our next event offers the chance for you to work with experts in game design and playful learning to develop an activity that will help your institution to achieve that change.
Our previous research identified the following priority areas for activities to enable educators to act as agents of change:
- Communication and building relationships (with pupils, parents, other schools, and external organisations, and with high priority groups)
- Capturing and representing diverse perspectives on what needs to change and how
- Addressing the perception of change as ‘too risky’
- Acting as agents of change within the confines of existing heavy workloads
- Techniques, tools, and training for remote communication
- Evaluating success, using evaluation frameworks
Apply to the workshop
We would ask you to apply to the workshop with a specific change you want to achieve, within one of these priority areas or directly relevant to one of the SDGs. This could be something large that affects your whole school and beyond (e.g. “develop a whole school and community approach to addressing the attainment gap) or something specific (e.g. “devise a strategy to engage all students and their parents in their classwork during the disruptions”).
Within the workshop we will co-design a prototype game or playful activity to fit your specific need in your local context. You may be able to take away this activity and start using it straight away and/or you will have the chance to test and develop it further at a subsequent workshop.
The workshop will take place online on 30th Nov at 4pm – 6pm. To apply for a place at this workshop, please contact d.abbott@gsa.ac.uk, stating your idea for a specific change in your local context. Places are very limited so application should be treated as a firm commitment. If we have more applications than places, places will be assigned by random ballot.
We are looking forward to working with you to achieve change!
